Social justice is about more than some so-called liberal cause. The debate over some issue may be the story; but the consideration of social justice arises when a sense of compassion awakens within us and takes us to the heart of the matter. A social consciousness takes us beyond the story to the back-story.

Certainly, social justice has to do with fundamental human rights and a form of restorative justice in the absence of those rights. But more so, it has to do with distributive justice, where sustainability in the face of constant and inevitable change is to be found in what is often referred to as the common good.

Thus, social justice is always about something more. And, in the face of change and the opportunities change brings, bends with hope towards a certain vision of how things might yet be.
